Muriwai Beach has been confirmed as the venue for the Surf Sports inter-club carnival on Sunday 2nd December.
Carnival organisers had been holding off making a decision between Muriwai and Omaha, the alternative beach. Big surf on the west coast at the start of the week has since dropped to around 1 metre, making it possible to hold the marker buoys in place. Competitors had also been hoping for surf conditions to test their skills.
The meeting for team managers is at 9.30 am and the first event, beach sprints, gets under way at 10.00 am while the tide is low.
Also featuring on the programme are surf, board and ski races, board relays and board rescues, the double ski event, the Diamond Person and Ironman events, finishing with Taplin relays. A second arena will see racing for surf boats and surf canoes, starting at 12 noon.
