Red Beach lifeguard Erin Taylor has emerged as one of the star performers of the just-concluded International Surf Challenge in Australia.
Competing at Sydney’s Bondi Beach as a member of the New Zealand surf lifesaving team, Erin sealed a great three-test series by beating the best surf ski paddlers in the world in two of her three women’s ski races.
And in the third and final test, she teamed with Kevin Morrison to snare the mixed ski relay title.
Her winning streak was not confined to the Bondi surf. She was also a member of the New Zealand women’s beach relay team which completed a clean sweep by winning the relay event three days in a row.
The Challenge was one of the final events of the ‘Year of the Surf Lifesaver’ which celebrates 100 years of surf lifesaving in Australia.
