Erin Taylor has achieved the first-ever podium finish for a New Zealand female kayaker at a World Cup regatta. She finished third in the A final of the K1 500m event in Poznan, Poland.
Racing in lane one, Taylor pulled out all the stops to score a personal best time of 1:50.590. Nine women lined up for the final.
“It was great to do a PB and also stand on the podium,” she said after the race.
She admits to having a lot of improving to do ahead of the Beijing Olympics, adding that she knows how much faster she has to get to reach the world’s best.
The four Kiwi kayakers arrive in Rockhampton, Queensland this week for a five-week build-up before flying to Beijing.
