Checking out Pakiri

24th December 2009

Twenty Red Beach lifeguards travelled north to Pakiri Beach in mid-November to check out the conditions and to become familiar with the beach and its surroundings.
The visit was the precursor to the start of weekend patrols at the east coast location and for some of the lifeguards it was their first-ever visit to Pakiri.
They checked out the Pakiri River which flows out to sea just north of the patrolling area and used two IRB’s to journey down the coastline. We caught the occasion on camera.
