Red Beach wins Club of the Year award

Red Beach scoops up nine awards at the Awards of Excellence night including …       

  • The supreme award for Club of the Year
  • Senior Competition Club of the Year
  • Junior Competition Club of the Year

Red Beach Surf Club carried off nine awards from Surf Life Saving Northern Region’s Awards of Excellence night.  They included the prestigious Club of the Year award, the Senior Competition Club of the Year as well as the Junior Competition Club of the Year.
Vaughan Skiffington was presented with the DHL Surf Coach of the Year award and becomes a national finalist, while Dean Pouwhare collected the trophy for Outstanding Contribution to Power Craft.
Red Beach also won all four Sportsman awards which covered the Open, U19, U16 and U14 divisions.
In accepting the Club of the Year award, club president Mike Taylor paid tribute to the efforts of Vaughan Skiffington for coaching, and Chris Gurr for the club’s patrolling efforts at both Red Beach and Pakiri.  “It’s the very first time that Red Beach has won Club of the Year and it’s an honour,” he added.
