20th anniversary of the Far North event

Red Beach will be represented at this weekend’s IRB Challenge in the Far North by an open men’s crew wanting to have a crack at winning the title.
Dylan French, Jared Pouwhare and Jack Readman will crew the IRB with land-based back-up being provided by Dean Pouwhare and Mark Readman.
The IRB Challenge on Saturday 15th September is hosted by Far North Rescue in conjunction with SLSNR. It’s the 20th year of the event which is raced from Scott’s Point at the northern end of 90 Mile Beach down to Ahipara in Northland.
The race is run in stages to test each crew’s skills and stamina as well as the reliability of the equipment. The top crews are expected to take 2 ½ - 3 hrs depending on conditions.
