Red Beach lifeguards will be back at the popular northern beach of Pakiri to continue their volunteer surf patrols from Saturday 15 December.
The Red Beach club is now entering its fourth summer of patrolling at Pakiri. The decision to patrol there stemmed from the club’s fast-growing membership and the ability to provide highly-qualified lifeguards.
Last summer, from early-December to mid-February, lifeguards at Pakiri carried out 10 rescues and performed 145 preventative actions during the 861 hours they were on patrol. This summer's surf patrols will continue through to Sunday 10 February.
