Red Beach’s JuniorSurf competitors have retained the Cath & Eddie Millar Cup by a comfortable margin.
Competition for the trophy was held in conjunction with the SLSNR JuniorSurf Championships at Orewa Beach over the weekend of 2 & 3 February. It was the second time that this format has been adopted with specific events designated for Millar Cup points.
Red Beach finished with 88 points, a total of 23 points clear of the runners-up to claim the trophy for the 11th consecutive time.
Two Red Beach boat crews took on the Piha surf in Round 3 of the NZ Surf Boat Series with each crew achieving a podium spot.
The Cab Savs masters crew rowed into third place behind Titahi Bay and Piha in the open men’s final.
The Red Beach Sirens crew also finished third in the open women’s final behind Piha and Omanu Beach. After three races in the NZ Surf Boat Series, the Sirens are well placed on the leaderboard with one round to go.

Three Red Beach surf boat crews will compete in the North Island Surf Boat Championships at Waihi Beach this coming weekend. The crews on the water will be the Cab Savs, the Sirens and Blakey’s Angels. The event doubles as Round 4 of the NZ Surf Boat series and gets under way on Saturday at 12 noon. The Champion of Champions series starts at 8.30am on Sunday.
