Red Beach’s Masters competitors were in dominant form to achieve an overall points win at the NRC's for the fifth consecutive year.
Competing at Ruakaka, they topped the points table following two days of competition, running up a total of eight wins.
Eight clubs fielded Masters competitors, all over the age of 30, who competed in a range of water and beach events.
Red Beach’s JuniorSurf members are about to head for Mount Maunganui to compete in the annual Ocean Athletes event.
A total of 62 competitors aged from 10-14 years – the club’s biggest-ever contingent - will participate over four days of competition starting on Thursday 21st February.
At last year’s Oceans ’12 event, Red Beach took out the top honours for overall points.
The Ocean Athletes concept was developed 13 years and has grown in size to become one of Surf Life Saving New Zealand’s most successful surf sport events, attracting around 800 young athletes.
