Trophies handed out at Awards of Excellence Night

The Red Beach Sirens surf boat crew has won the Competition Team of the Year award for the second year in a row.
Rowers Zita Talaic-Burgess, Kelly Andrew, Madison Smith, Katrina Gouldstone and sweep Shane ‘Bugsy’ O’Halloran were presented with the trophy at the SLSNR Awards of Excellence function. The crew’s fifth rower, Ashleigh Jenkins, is currently in the UK.
Dylan Turner, a finalist in two categories, took out the award for Developing Surf Official of the Year.
Talented teen Jonathan Selman was named as the Under 14 Sportsman of the Year. At the Oceans ’15 event at Mt Maunganui in February, he won the U13 Run Swim Run event and placed third in the U13 Surf Race.
And Red Beach’s Masters competitors were rewarded for their efforts. The club was presented with the trophy for Masters Competition Club of the Year.
Close to 400 guests attended the event held at Eden Park on Saturday 11th July.
