Did you know ... SKY Sport Rugby commentator Scotty Stevenson was a Red Beach lifeguard during the 1990's. He joined the club in 1992 as an U16 member, having been a Nipper with Ruakaka for 4 years. Scotty progressed through the U16 and U19 ranks and, after one year in Open ranks, moved on to pursue his career.
Affectionately known as 'Sumo' - a nickname which has stuck to this day - he was a strong surf swimmer and won titles at the Auckland Champs in the Tube Rescue event. He is currently the editor of SKY Sport the Magazine and writes for the NZ Herald.
