Thirty Red Beach athletes head for Mt Maunganui this weekend to compete in the Mount Monster event.
Now in its fourth year, the gruelling event has attracted a record field of more than 300 competitors who will be chasing $9000 in prizemoney.  The 25km, four-stage endurance race takes in Mount Maunganui’s iconic coastline.
The Monster starts and finishes on Mount Maunganui’s Main Beach, with a 5km beach run, a spectacular swim leg which includes a jump off Moturiki Island’s blowhole, a 12km ski leg to Omanu and a 6km board paddle.
Racing starts on Saturday 17 December at 10am.
