More than 500 surf athletes from surf clubs around the country will descend on Whangamata during the weekend of 9 & 10 December for the annual Whangamata Classic surf carnival.
Jointly hosted by Surf Life Saving Northern Region and SLSNZ Eastern Region, the two-day event has attracted some of the country’s best surf athletes.
Saturday’s events, beginning at 9.00am, include surf races, ski & board races, Ironman & Diamond events as well as beach flags & sprints. Surf boats and surf canoes will also race but only on Saturday.
Sunday’s programme, starting at 8.30am, is comprised of relay events.
There will be two points tables running; one for Northern Region clubs and another for all the clubs participating.
