Around 40 Red Beach lifeguards took part in the gruelling Mount Monster event at Mt Maunganui on Saturday 16 December. The club fielded teams of four in the U19 Teams category along with three individual athletes.
A challenging endurance event, it combined a 5km run along the sand, a Run-Jump-Swim over a 1.2km distance, a 6km board paddle and a 12km ski leg. Placings by the club's U19 teams were:
