Red Beach will have 95 athletes competing at this weekend’s Northern Region Championships in Northland.
Ruakaka will host the event for the first time since 2015 when two days of surf lifesaving action get under way.
And with the NZ Championships in Gisborne just three weeks away, competitors will be giving it their all at this penultimate surf carnival of the summer.
Saturday’s programme starts at 9.00 am with beach sprints & beach relays before moving on to surf races, board races & relays, ski races & relays and the Ironman & Diamond events before beach flags wrap up the afternoon’s programme.
Surf boat and surf canoe racing gets under way at the conclusion of the beach sprints & relays.
The order of events for the Ironman and Taplin events is Board-Ski-Swim.
Sunday’s programme commences at 8.30 am with the Lifesaver Relay followed by the 2km Beach Run. Double ski events will bring the weekend to finality.
Masters’ events also feature on the NRCs programme with points counting towards the Masters Competition Club of the Year.
