Passing of young Katie Archer

12th April 2018

It is with profound sadness that we advise the passing of one of our own.
Katie Archer (10) had been battling the degenerative illness called Batten's Disease, a rare disease which she had no hope of surviving.
Sadly, there is no cure for this and Katie passed away on 26 March 2018. Her funeral was attended by a large number of Red Beach's JuniorSurf members.
Katie's parents, Brett and Lisa, joined Red Beach Surf Club over 10 years ago. It is to be noted that they did an amazing job to see that young Katie lived her life to the fullest before her passing.
Our sincere condolences go out to Brett, Lisa and their two children Caleb and Amy at this sad time, and to our club members who are grieving at this tragic loss.

Caleb, an U14 Rookie lifeguard and Amy (12) both took out awards at the club's recent JuniorSurf prize giving. Caleb, a big asset to the club, was presented with the Rookie Lifeguard award and can now become a fully qualified lifeguard next summer.

To the Archer family, your 'second family' will always be here for you.
