Red Beach Surf Club has 13 finalists, spread over 10 award categories, heading into the SLSNR Awards of Excellence Night on Saturday 14 July.
Three members of the Turner family are in the running for individual awards. Club chairman Dylan Turner is one of three finalists for Outstanding Contribution to Junior Surf, while Sharon Turner is a finalist for Developing Surf Official of the Year.
Meanwhile, Hannah Turner & Kate Rogers have both been named as finalists for U14 Sportswoman of the Year.
Club coach for the past three years Jack Gavin is a finalist in the Coach of the Year category. Wade Downey is a finalist for the Instructor of the Year award while Peter Kramer is again a finalist for Outstanding Contribution to Power Craft.
Club athlete Patrick Makgill is in the running for two awards. He's a finalist for U16 Sportsman of the Year and he joins Jonathan Selman, Flynn Southcombe and Henry Williams (all pictured above) for the Competition Team of the Year award. This quartet of pool swimmers broke NZ records at the SLSNZ Pool Championships last October.
Club stalwart Michelle Newton is a finalist for Surf Official of the Year, while Caleb Archer is in the running for Rookie Lifeguard of the Year.
