Red Beach Surf Club is the recipient of a $20,000 grant from the TSB Bank which will go towards the construction of a patrol tower at Pakiri.
The club is one of eleven New Zealand surf clubs to receive grants from the bank. Red Beach lifeguards are about to enter their tenth consecutive summer of volunteer patrols at this northern beach.
TSB is a major partner of Surf Life Saving New Zealand and each year it invites all surf life saving clubs to apply for one of 11 financial grants totalling $100,000.
The grants are in recognition of the important work that surf clubs do in communities throughout New Zealand. They can be applied to the purchase of new equipment, to provide training to members or for the completion of maintenance work.
