Red Beach athletes
delivered some spirited performances at the recent SLSNZ Pool Rescue Championships to take out a total of 18 medals across Senior and Junior ranks.
The event, held at the National Aquatic Centre on Auckland’s North Shore, attracted 29 clubs from throughout New Zealand. Red Beach finished in seventh spot on the overall points table.
It was the 17th year of the national pool championships and swimmers aged from 10 to 75 took part over the three days of the event.
The club’s 16 Juniors collected 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze medals while the six Senior swimmers came away with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze.
Red Beach’s top performer was U19 swimmer Patrick Makgill who collected two individual Gold medals.  They came from the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins and the 50m Swim with Fins. He also picked up a team gold in the U19 Mixed 4 x 50m Medley Relay.
In the Junior events, Jasper Cornish paired with Texon Rolston to claim a Gold medal in the U14 100m Tube Rescue with Patient & Fins.
