Red Beach’s young athletes delivered many remarkable performances during the weekend of 6/7 February to retain the Northern Region Junior Points Trophy.
Competing at Orewa Beach, the club’s 96 competitors – the largest number of all the clubs present – won the prized trophy for the sixth consecutive year.
They came away with a total of 52 medals … 14 Gold, 19 Silver & 19 Bronze. And to cap off the two-day event, the Juniors also regained the Cath & Eddie Millar Cup which was last won by Red Beach in 2019.
“It was a balanced effort across the group with all competitors contributing to the clean sweep of the competition at this year’s Northern Champs,” said Junior division chairman Richard Rogers.
“It takes strong results in team events to win both trophies. To top it off, we packed into the club back at Red Beach to celebrate the weekend and to thank our volunteer managers, officials, coaches, water safety, and support teams.“
“As New Zealand’s largest competing surf team, it takes a lot of support from volunteers to keep the wheels turning,” he added.
