Red Beach on top at 65th Owen Chapman Cup
11th February 2021
With strength in numbers, Red Beach convincingly won the 65th Owen Chapman Cup surf carnival for a fourth consecutive time.
A total of 265 athletes took part, representing 12 clubs, five of which came from outside the Northern region.
After a four-year absence, the carnival saw the return of the Candy Stripes Eliminator event which was first held in 2016 and again in 2017. It was the premier event on the programme and attracted 43 females and 50 males in separate events.
And for the first time, the carnival witnessed the new format of four different age divisions for athletes … U15, U17, U19, and Open.
