Three boat crews on podium at Waihi

14th February 2021

All three Red Beach crews
made it to the podium at the recent North Island Surf Boat Championships at Waihi.
The Red Beach Pirates were there to collect the Silver medal for the U23 Men’s Long Course final. Moments later, Bronze medals were presented to the Red Beach Rabbits in the Open Women’s division, and to the Valkyries in the U19 Women’s division.

“It was all about how the whole group worked together to achieve these results,” said Valkyries sweep Shane ‘Bugsy’ O’Halloran.
“Three of the Valkyries girls rowed with the Rabbits during the competition, all helping out to move the boats around. Jed Wright worked his tradie magic to get the broken pump battery working for the Valkyries boat; they just love working hard for each other.”

“To cap things off at the prize-giving ceremony, Red Beach Life Member Michelle Newton was named as the Official of the Year. This was awesome for Michelle, and it’s been the case for many years,” he added.
“It was a great day of group spirit and results for Red Beach.”
