Age Groups & FeesAGE GROUPS FOR THE JUNIORSURF DIVISIONChildren are trained and compete at carnivals within age groups. The group that a child participates in is based on the child's age as at 30th September.
200 Metre Badge To gain the 200 metre badge, which is required to compete in water events at surf carnivals, an individual must swim 200 metres freestyle and tread water with a hand in the air for one minute in under 10 minutes in the sea (dependent upon surf conditions). The JuniorSurf Division will hold 200 metre badge trials within the first few weeks of the season and again further into the season. There is no requirement for our JuniorSurf members to be strong swimmers. It should be noted that in view of the environment in which our activities are carried out, every effort should be made to ensure that they do have some swimming proficiency. This should increase as children progress through the age groups.
Registrations take place each year on the two Sundays prior to Labour Weekend from Financial Responsibilities
Families contribute financially to the running of Red Beach Surf Lifesaving Club in two distinct ways: membership fees and fundraising. The fees cover Sunday and mid-week training, selected carnivals and basic club administrative costs. The remainder is made up with fundraising and grants, enabling the club to maintain and purchase new equipment, as well as transporting the equipment to and from carnivals. Membership Fees Fees are set as follows:
Additional Fees Fees do not cover pool training and some carnivals, which have an entry fee requirement. Information regarding these costs will be posted on the notice board or as advised by team coaches/managers closer to the time.
Fundraising is essential to the club and provides an opportunity for all families to help support their children’s surf life saving activities. Your ideas and involvement in organising and running fundraising events is always appreciated. Helping with our weekly sausage sizzle on training days is one example of how every family can contribute to the club. Please contact any committee member with your valuable suggestions and offers of help, they are always welcome! Sponsorship is one of the major providers of funding. The JuniorSurf division is always searching for partners in this area. Sponsorship is welcomed in many ways, from printing and IT, monetary donations for the purchase of equipment, clothing, rescue tubes, fins through to sponsoring boards. All equipment sponsored is able to be signwritten with a sponsor's name, logo and colours if applicable. If you are able to assist or have contacts, please speak with a member of the committee to obtain promotional material.
