SWIM TRAINING
Historically, many of our surf club members come from a swimming club background, but it was found that the swimming training did not cater for those who wished to focus on the sport of Surf Life Saving. The Surf Squad was formed in 2003/2004 and is based at the Hibiscus Coast Leisure Centre 25m Pool, located at Brightside Road, Whangaparaoa.
The Elite Squad is made up of Red Beach Surf Club swimmers, with a few Elite members from the Orewa Surf Life Saving Club. Squad membership is restricted to 24 members.
The Development Squad was established in April of 2006 and, due to minimal pool space, the Development Squad is restricted to 12 Red Beach members.
Some of our members also compete in pool swimming events and are registered with the Waterhole Swimming Club which is based in Glen Eden. The surf swimmers form the Northern Division of the Waterhole club.
