Apologies:

Chairmans Report:

Dawn Ross welcomed the club president and the squash members to the meeting.

The club has had 2 masters and 5 senior interclub teams. A women’s and a men’s C grade teams contested at inter districts and the men’s C grade team made the semi-finals.

The year has been challenging with too few people putting up their hands to help, but hopefully this can be rectified by asking members to do take on just one specific task that might be to help with one event and then that is their commitment for the season.
The junior numbers continue to grow, thanks to Aaron’s hard work and the work of his helpers (Ray, Andy and Fraser).
Our aim for next year is to continue to grow our membership numbers, improve our facilities and hopefully to have some tournaments that have healthy entry numbers.

A working bee addressed most of the problems of the balcony above the courts.   The courts are being plastered at the end of November.

Changing rooms are still an issue and separate dry facilities would be the number 1 item on  the squash wish list.

The bar requires more volunteer staff to help on the Club 31 roster.

A massive thanks must go out to all of the committee members who have worked throughout the year to make things happen around here.

Looking forward to a successful 2012 season for the Squash Division, which will include the 30th anniversary of the club.

Club President's Address:

Mike Taylor addressed the meeting. He commented on the building programme – downstairs, the resource consent is about to expire so an option of the gear shed using the same footprint as the 3rd squash court is being investigated. Early costing indicate $120,000 to progress the project.

The $30,000 loan is being repaid. Louise Beaumont is the sponsorship officer.

Hours 12 to 12 have been applied for, for the bar licence. This needs to go to a hearing later this week at the district court.
Amended hours applied for Mon – Thurs 12 -11
Fri – Sat 12 – 12
Sun 12 -10
Anything else outside these hours will require a special licence.

The surf season is underway – patrols have started. Patrolling at Pakiri will resume mid- December.

Mike will notify members of the next club planning meeting.

Court Maintenance:

Court repairs – both courts will be completely re-plastered. The courts will be done consecutively starting the week of November 21. The work should take 2 weeks to complete.

General Business:

Cleaning of the club is well below standard and the problem of little or no cleaning downstairs needs to be addressed.
The kitchen is also at an unacceptable standard and needs to be cleaned properly.
See Debra re both these issues.
Bathrooms – another source of frustration. The issue of no soap has been raised again. Mike Taylor said this problem would be addressed.

Club Championships:

Club champs were great success this year. Every final lived up to its expectation – there was more than one nail biting 5-setter. Thanks to all the members who were able to play and congratulations to our club champs.
Have to mention the Masters – great division. Well done to Mark - who usually gets a game a week – he played 4 long matches to take the Masters division.
