Junior Newsletter : 28 November 2017

It was a great start to the carnival season at Orewa last weekend – the weather was pretty good and the beach was covered with smiling kids in red and white striped beanies. Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time – we hope all your kids had a good time.

Sunday Training
Sunday training resumes as usual this Sunday December 3. We have three Sundays left before we break for two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period. The last session of the year is December 18, when Santa will make his annual visit to Red Beach.

Sunday training begins again on January 8 but there is no training on January 15 because of the annual club camp and Ruakaka Carnival that weekend.

Water Safety Parents
Last chance to refresh on Sunday 10 December.
We were very lucky last weekend to have a light water safety roster at the Orewa Carnival; but this might not be the case for the rest of season. We know there are a lot of people who have not done their Bronze Medallion refresh – even if you don’t intend to patrol, it’s really important to refresh so you can do water safety at carnivals for your kids. We need as many refreshed lifeguards as possible, otherwise we might need to cap the number of children who can compete.

Unless Debra is able to input your name as refreshed lifeguards into Northern Region database by mid-December, you will not be able to do water safety at Ruakaka. The club will hold two more refresher sessions on Sunday 10th at 12pm and Wednesday 6th at 5pm. Doesn't matter how long ago you gained your bronze, we will help you through the refresher. Our instructors have already done three sessions and there won’t be anymore. Please make the effort to come along!
