Surf Canoes

Our Proud History

Red Beach Surf Club has a proud history in surf canoe competition with success at a local, regional and national level. The surf canoe crews are an integral part of Red Beach’s lifesaving and competition teams and we have witnessed a highly enthusiastic level of interest in surf canoe paddling since the club purchased its first canoe in the 1970’s.
The craft is exclusive to New Zealand; you won’t find it in any other country in the world.

Our surf canoe competitors race in the age categories available – Under 19, Open and Masters in both male and female divisions.

This season, our crews aim to compete at all local carnivals, the regional championships which take in the ERCs and the NRCs plus the NZ Championships which take place at Gisborne’s Midway Beach in March 2018.

Our Sponsors

Without the generous support of our sponsors the surf canoe section would not have the calibre of equipment it has to compete at the highest level. The canoe section would like to thank all of its sponsors for their assistance. You’ll find their logos emblazoned on the sides of our canoes.
