Surf patrols at Pakiri about to start up again

Red Beach lifeguards will be back at the popular northern beach of Pakiri to continue their volunteer surf patrols from Saturday 21 December.
The Red Beach club is now entering its fifth summer of patrolling at Pakiri. The decision to patrol there stemmed from the club’s fast-growing membership and the ability to provide highly-qualified lifeguards.
Last summer, from early-December to mid-February, the volunteer lifeguards at Pakiri carried out 12 rescues and attended to 10 first aid cases during the 802 hours they were on patrol. This summer's surf patrols will continue through to Sunday 9 February.
