NZ Surf Boat Series # 2 also a selection trial

The New Year will see eight Red Beach surf boat crews heading for the Whangamata Surf Boat Spectacular on Friday 2nd January.
The event is Round Two of the NZ Surf Boat Series and race organisers are confident of 55-60 crews taking part. Crews will race over a long course/sprint finish series in all age divisions.
The NZ selectors will be on hand to pick crews to compete in the Trans-Tasman Surf Boat Challenge at Waihi in February.  The Red Beach Sirens crew is in contention for selection, having won five races from five starts at Lyall Bay in late-November.

Red Beach’s other crews to start at Whangamata will be the Boomers and the Cab Savs in the open men’s division, the Bangers (open women’s division), the Pirates and the Giggles (both U23) as well as Blakey's Angels and the Doom Squad (both U19). Racing starts at 10.00 am.
