Lifeguard patrols
commence at Red Beach on Saturday 30 November and continue until Sunday 29 March next year. Patrol hours for Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are from 11.00 am – 5.00 pm.
At Pakiri Beach, a one-hour drive north from Red Beach, patrols get underway on Saturday 21 December and run through to Sunday 29 March. It will be the eleventh year of volunteer patrolling at Pakiri by Red Beach lifeguards.

During the past 10 years at Pakiri, the lifeguards have carried out a total of 127 rescues, an average of 12 per summer season.
At Red Beach, lifeguards have effected an average of six rescues per summer season over the same period of time.
