Club Prize Giving : Winners of premier awards

The winners of the club’s top three awards
were named at the club’s Prize Giving night on Saturday 22 May.

The President’s Cup for Best Clubman was awarded to club stalwart Kathy Kramer (pictured above).
Kathy is a pillar of strength in club administration. She is the treasurer of the Senior Surf Committee and the co-chairman of the Management Committee. She is also a patrolling lifeguard and officiates at SLSNR carnivals. In the area of administration, Kathy makes a profound impact, directing her energies to the following areas …

  • Attends all SLSNR club chairs meetings as Red Beach delegate
  • Looks into all SLSNR agreements & policies requiring club input
  • Sits on the SLSNR East Coast Review committee
  • Organised and chaired Management meetings for strategies for the club during Covid-19
  • Reviewed and implemented staff contracts during Covid-19
  • Reviewed  Central Government Funding budgets and club budgets for 2020/21 and 2021/22

Patrick Makgill
(above) was presented with the Shannon Cup for Best Achievement in Competition. His major achievement was in winning six Gold medals – five of them from individual events – at the SLSNZ Pool Rescue Championships in October 2020. He swam to his sixth Gold medal as a member of Red Beach’s 4x50m Pool Lifesaver Relay team. Patrick also collected two Silvers and a Bronze medal from mixed relay events.

Matt Bingley
(above) was awarded the Colin Ash Cup for Outstanding Achievement, Non-Competition.
As the Competition Equipment Manager, Matt has spent a phenomenal amount of time at the club to ensure that all craft was in top-notch condition and available for use. During the course of the season, he organised, repaired, and maintained more than 200 items of club equipment to support the athletes.
