After seven amazing years, this will be Jack Gavin’s last season as Head Coach of Red Beach Surf Life Saving Club. Jack will finish with us on the 30th April 2022. This is a great loss for the club, however, we wish him all the best as he returns to his hometown with partner Elle and son Tommy. Jack has taken up the head coaching position at his home club of Midway Surf Life Saving Club in Gisborne.
Since joining in November 2015, Jack has been an invaluable member of our team, his contribution has been essential to the success of our club and forming an unprecedented club culture. Over the past 6 seasons, Jack has achieved some substantial feats while creating unforgettable memories and strong bonds for our athletes and families. These include winning the Junior NRCs for 6 consecutive years; winning 3 consecutive Senior NRCs; 27 Junior National titles; 25 Senior National titles. And, 10 of our athletes have been selected to be part of the NZ High Performance Squads.
We all know that Jack’s passion lies within creating a strong club culture and he ensures all athletes, regardless of sporting ability, have a memorable and fun experience. He has achieved this through his 5 years of the Ahipara ‘Shippies Camp’; 5 years of Gizzy Camp, and 6 years of involvement with the Mangawhai Junior Camp. He has also reintroduced fun club events, like the Pub to Club, 6-man & Family Taplin nights, and the Enduro fundraiser which we have all come to love.
Jack is relatable to all walks of life and has made himself fully available to all members at all times. Without question, he has assisted us all in forming lifelong connections and bonds throughout the club.
There will be a farewell celebration on Jack’s departure to thank him for his dedication and to celebrate these tremendous achievements and wish Jack, Elle, and little Tommy all the best for the future.
